Rotozip rotary saw

The Rotozip 2300 is a variable speed rotary saw that allows speeds from 15,000 to 30,000 rpm. This tool is generally considered a drywall cutting tool. It does a superior job of slicing through drywall for outlet and switch box installation.

I had my electrician use it to install new switches in the kitchen when it was renovated. It took about 1/3 the time of cutting the holes by hand. (It created about 5x the dust.) He really liked it and said he'd be picking one up.

The tool is light-weight and shaped to reduce user fatigue which I like a lot.

The reason I got the tool was in renovating a bathroom. My home was built in the 80's. When it was built, the installation of a one piece fiberglass type tub and surround was put in the second bath. It was the 1980's lovely blue (UGH). I needed to rip this unit out.

Since the unit was installed during the original house construction, the walls and floors were installed on top of the unit flanges. Hence the need for the Rotozip, since I wanted to minimize the amount of sheetrock repair. (I also need to reduce the size of the one piece unit to make it easier to get it out the door.)

The Rotozip cut through the fiberglass unit like butter. I was able to slice the tub and surround into six or seven pieces and slice off the sheet rock above the flange by following the flange all the way around the unit. Made the final sheetrock repair so much easier.

I found th unit to be easy to handle, more than powerful enough for what I needed to do and it only broke one bit.

Pros
powerful
Cons
accessories are expensive creates LOTS of dust
