Tool-Rank On Facebook

Initially I did not put much thought into making a Facebook page for Tool-Rank. The likely reason probably being because I do not use Facebook much for myself. However, Facebook is the largest social network and I would be a fool not to take part in what it has to offer. So after much delay, you can now find Tool-Rank amongst the Facebook masses.

So what do you get with TR on Facebook? Just about the same thing you get here on the site, except with FB you can share what you like on TR more easily with your friends. Our FB page mirrors all the news and reviews that are posted on directly on TR, so you can get the latest tool news directly on your Facebook news feed. If you are a user of FB and a reader of Tool-Rank, you should make sure you have added the Tool-Rank FB page to your account.

Media Reviews Added To Tool-Rank

button_media Due to user request, media reviews have been added to Tool-Rank. Now you can add reviews on your favorite books, magazines, project plans, instructional DVDs, and even online subscriptions. Online subscription reviews was a last minute addition that will allow users to review online paid memberships and clubs. More and more paid membership website are popping up and people want to know if these subscriptions are worth their money.

Help me kick off this new addition to the site by adding your reviews today. Remember you do not have to register to add reviews, so you have no reason to keep your knowledge and experience to yourself.

Tool-Rank's New Look

You might have noticed that I have changed a bit of the look to the site over the weekend. The layout is basically the same, with the changes being mostly cosmetic. The biggest change is to the main menu. In the past you had to click on each tab in the menu the reach their sub-menus. Now you can easily access every tab and sub-menu from every page. This reduces the amount of clicks it takes to get to curtain pages.

What do you think of the new look?

I hope you enjoy the new menu and the new look. Please, if you notice any problems, let me know via the contact page or the support forum.

Happy Memorial Day

I would like to say thank you to all of the troops that have served us well over all the years, and to those serving us today. Thank you to those that have made it through OK, and especially to those who have died in the line of duty. Happy Memorial Day.

Tool-Rank is on Twitter

I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing but I have signed up for twitter. For some reason I have not been one to get all crazy about social websites, but I guess it is time to get on the bandwagon just like everyone else. Be sure to check me out if you are on twitter, and sign up if you are not. The address is not hard to remember

Tool-Rank T-Shirts

One of my Christmas gifts this year from my Parents was a small box of Tool-Rank T-Shirts. This is something I had thought about doing in the future, but It was nice of them to go ahead and get it started for me. They even included the little orange Tool-Rank man. The photo is of the back of the shirt. The front has a small logo where the pocket would be.

So what did you get for Christmas?

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all the Tool-Rank users and visitors. It has been a great year one for, and I really appreciate everyone that has submitted reviews, added comments, and participated in any other way.

There is exactly one week left until the Bosch Impactor Giveaway comes to an end. Remember you need to have at least 10 reviews in order to be eligible for the drawing. Good luck to everyone.

One contest ends, another should began. Right? I need some ideas for the next Tool-Rank Giveaway. They should be in the $100 price range. I was thinking about the Dremel Multi-Max, as there seems to be great intrest in it. Let me know in the comments below.

Merry Christmas and God Bless,

Chris Free Bosch PS40-2 & PS20 Giveaway

Bosch PS40

This is just a Pre-announcement. is going to be hosting its first tool giveaway. We will be giving away a Bosch Ps40-2 Impactor that we will be using for our first in depth review. Bosch is offering a free PS20(tool only) with Mail in rebate, so the winner will also receive it as well.

In order to be eligible for the contest, you must be a registered user, with at least 10 tool reviews. You can not split up tool packages in order to get more reviews, e.g.,  a pack of chisels must be reviews as a pack. If you have a cordless combo, you can review each tool in the combo, as long as the tool is also sold individually.

The winner will be chosen at random from all eligible contestants. Winner must be at least 18 years old and the delivery address for the prize must be within the contiguous 48 states of the USA. Employees, friends, and family are not eligible.

The contest has not officially started yet, but I am letting you know now, so you can get a head start on your 10 reviews.

Good News and Bad News

Lets me start with the good news. When I bought the Bosch PS40-2 Impactor set for the Giveaway , Bosch had a promotion to get a free PS20 Drill via mail in rebate. I always  get a little nervous when it comes to rebates, because if you don't follow the requirements to the letter, then they can reject you. I received a letter the other day from Bosch saying that they had an overwhelming response from the promotion, and will be shipping the PS20 by November 1st. So the good news is the PS20 is coming, and as long as it arrives before the contest ends, I am happy.

Now for the bad news. I had plans to start adding some videos to my reviews. Not  full on video reviews, but more like an extra bit of visuial information. Something more then a photo could give you. Too bad I pluged my video camera into the wrong DC power supply and burned the thing up. :( Always check your voltages. The camera was probably 8 years old, so it wasnt a huge loss, but now I need to buy another one.
