Mixer Lift For The Kitchen, Or Tool Lift For You Shop?

So I was looking at a Rockler email the other day and came across the Rev-a-Shelf Heavy-Duty Mixer Lift. I had probably seen the product before, but it wasn't until that moment that I realized that this mixer lift could be a great addition to the work shop. Just because it is made for the kitchen doesn't mean it can't have just as good a home out back.

For those who have not seen such a device before, let me explain it to you. The mixer lift comes as hardware that is mounted to the inside of a base cabinet. What this hardware allows you to do is to store kitchen small-appliances inside of the cabinet and out of the way. When you are ready to use them, the spring counter-balanced hardware raises the appliance out of the cabinet and up to a working level. The Rev-a-Shelf Mixer Lift has a weight capacity of 60lb., so imagine all of those bench tools that could be mounted onto it. Oscillating spindle sander, bench grinder, sharpening system, heck, you might be able to go crazy and build this into a full-on router table.

The Rev-a-Shelf Heavy-Duty Mixer Lift retails for about $115, but Rockler is always offering sales for the holidays, so it shouldn't be hard to get it for less.
