Honda Builds 130MPH Riding Mower—Because They Can
https://www.tool-rank.com/media/listing/photos/thumbnail/300x300s/e1/5f/35/Honda-MeanMower-66-1374259072.jpgIs there any practical reason for building a riding mower that can travel at 130MPH? Probably not, but that didn't stop Honda from teaming up with their British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) partner, Team Dynamics, to do it anyway. And as unpractical as it is, it can still cut grass.
The Project, Mean Mower, was built from the ground up by Team Dynamics, who built the mower using parts from other Honda products and a custom chassis. The 1000cc engine comes from a Honda VTR Firestorm motorcycle, while the suspension and wheels come from a Honda ATV.
Honda reports that the mower can reach an estimated top speed of 130MPH, and can go 0-60 in just four seconds. Cutting grass at 130MPH is out of the question though, as the Mean Mower is limited to a 15MPH cutting speed.
Don't expect to find the Mean Mower at your home center anytime soon. This was likely just a media stunt that paid off well.
