I have been using these Sanders since the early eighties. Although they are heavier than the current crop of ¼ sheet sanders, sometimes this is a good thing, as you just have to use the weight of the tool to get the job done.I do own other sanders for when I need to work over head or use dust collection. If I'm going to be spending serious time sanding, I do usually grab one of these sanders
The paper clamp is not the easiest to use, they do provide a tool to assist with loading paper, though it is really not necessary.
A perfect companion for Porter Cables 505 ½ sheet sander
I hope they don't stop producing these, and that they continue to be made in America.
(Edit 12-26-08) Looks like they are now made in Mexico :-(
