One of the modern tools that makes life a whole lot easier is the cross-line laser level. If I put together a list of tools that every DIY'er should own, the cross-line laser would be on that list. So needless to say, I am happy to announce that this month Tool-Rank has teamed up with Johnson Level to giveaway one of their brand new 40-6650 Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser Levels.

Bosch does a pretty good job at updating their laser levels, bringing us models with better specifications to replace previous models. This time around Bosch has announced the GLL 2-15 Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser Level that looks to be replacing the older GLL2-40 with improvements to laser range.

Bosch has announced that they have come out with the new GLL 3-50 three line laser, plus plumb dot. This laser looks to be a smaller cheaper alternative to the GLL 3-80, which uses a more complex optics system to produce three 360-degree planes.

Recently I had a chance to put Bosch's new GCL-25 laser-level to real practical use. The GCL-25 laser level features five beam points—up, down, forward, left and right; in addition, it also displays continuous cross hair lines—horizontal and plumb. The beams and lines are all self leveling and can be used independently or together. The tool's featured 5-point, cross-hair combination made it ideal for my project, which, prior to the introduction of this layout tool would have required two tools or more.

Bosch, a name synonymous with professional grade tools and accessories, has recently concluded their 2012 press event. There, in addition to seeing their latest products, I got to meet some of the folks responsible for getting these great products into the hands of great professionals--like you. Informing our group, president and CEO of Bosch Power Tools, Terry Horan, mentioned that while other tool companies tout innovation, Bosch has their focus on invention, and that tweaking an existing tool to make it their own is not the way things are done at Bosch. I was reminded that Bosch is...

We first learned about Origin Laser Tools when they introduced the world to their $5000 3-axis self-leveling 360-degree line laser. Not only is it the coolest looking 3-axis laser on the market, but it has an incredible accuracy of ±1/32" @ 100 feet. Origin Laser Tools is at it again, this time with the LaserCube ML-3.

Tools are cool and lasers are cool, so we can pretty much assume that tools with lasers on them are double cool. So when Johnson Level sent over their 40-0921 self-leveling cross-line laser, even though I have used other cross-line lasers, I knew I would have fun testing it out. So after getting the kit out of the box, the obvious next step was to take it to the jobsite and put it to work. The Johnson 40-0921 comes in at a price of around $100 which puts it in the price range and...

Bosch is bringing us a smaller more compact cross-line laser with their new GLL2-40. I have the older GLL2-50 laser that I purchased when it first came out, and judging by the photos, the GLL2-40 appears to be quite a bit smaller. After a quick look at the specs I can see that the GLL2-40 is smaller in length, width, and height. The smaller size does come in handy in many cases, but the small size of the laser does indeed come at a cost to the laser's accuracy. The GLL2-40 has an accuracy of ±1/8-in...
