Not long ago I wrote about how Adam Savage from Mythbusters loves portable bandsaws. Since he does a lot of traveling for the show, I think he might get a kick out Milwaukee's latest cordless bandsaw which holds the title of lightest and most compact bandsaw on the market. Milwaukee's bandsaw is also the first to run on only 10.8-volts (M12).
New Delta 28-400 14-inch Bandsaw Coming In April
Manufacturer News

Delta has announced a new 14-inch bandsaw that features a 1 HP, 115V/230V, 1 phase TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled) motor. The new 28-400 bandsaw is built around a heavy-duty steel frame and sits upon a steel stand, both of which are said to reduce unwanted flexing. A relatively small foot-print and a 6-inch high cutting capacity should make this saw a good home workshop option.

If you have ever seen the show Mythbusters, you have probably seen the amazing contraptions they build to help them prove or disprove a myth. They have an amazing shop to work out of with all the tools needed to build anything. So when Adam Savage has access to so many tools, what two do you think are his favorites?

Want to do some woodworking and look cool during the process? The new Onyx limited edition series of tools from Powermatic can help you out with both. The black and gold color scheme on the Onyx tools has us thinking Powermatic should just make it their default color choice. Most of the time limited edition tools will end up costing you big, but you have a chance to win a Powermatic 14-inch Bandsaw and a PM2800 Drill Press valued at $2,804.

One of the things I try to do every weekend, is to watch the woodworking shows that are on PBS. Some times I get caught up in another project and forget to tune in, or even worse, I tune in only to see that PBS is trying to make money and has pulled the show for the day, but I like to watch when I can. I am not much of a woodworker, so I watch mostly for entertainment value, but if I was more into woodworking, all those shop tools are darn expensive? ...

I like tools that make my life easier, and as a finish carpenter you wouldn't think a portable band saw would be one of these tools, but on rare occasion they really are. You might be surprised by the amount of metal I have to work with on any give job. For instance I might have to cut down a 1/4" think angle-iron L-bracket that it too long, or cut down a support post, or more commonly, cut metal closet rod to length. When reviewing the Stout-X band saw back in 2009, I discovered how valuable...
Stout X-Band 18 Volt Cordless Bandsaw Review

I recently had an opportunity to test out the Stout X-Band Saw and Cutting Station. Let me start out by say that the X-Band Saw is like no other saw on the market. How so? Well, you have the ability to use the saw as both a portable hand held band saw, and a small band saw station when using the available Cutting Station accessory. When you first pull the X-Band out of its case you realize how small it is. Hopefully the photo of the X-Band in hand can give you an idea of its size....
