The classic rip hammer

This hammer has been on the market for many years with only (2) variances in design that I know of, either rip or claw heads, or either vinyl or leather handles. The lack of a basic design change in those many years is testament to flawless design and balance of this hammer. For me balance is the prime consideration when selecting a hammer, followed by grip feel and type of construction. I've bought & used other hammers over the years, but the ones I keep have always been the Estwings. I own an old, leather handled, claw head, finish Estwing hammer, and the 20 oz. rip model with the nylon vinyl handle. That one's my all-around hammer. Because of the one-piece construction, these are virtually indestructible and the nylon grip is comfortable and good at absorbing the shock of heavy pounding.

Pros
Great balance, grip feel, quality construction
Cons
none
