Rare Depression Era Color Photos Of Workers And Their Tools

Updated with link to all 1616 color photos

Do you know what the 30's and 40's looked like in color? Just about everything we see from that period of time is in black and white, and it is hard to picture it any other way. Sure there are movies that depict the era, but how accurate are they to the real thing?

The photos in the gallery were taken between 1939 and 1944 by either the U.S. Farm Security Administration or the Office of War Information, and the are now thankfully being preserved by the U.S. Library of Congress. In the gallery are just a few of the photos that feature tools, and they give us a rare peek at our history. If you want to see more, be sure to follow the links for the rest of the collection.
