Matthias Wandel, of woodgears.ca once again proves that he can build pretty much anything out of wood and other scraps he has lying around his shop. In previous videos he built himself a wooden scaffold to reach the lights that needed to be changed in his large shop. In his latest video he uses more scrap wood and a drill to motorize his scaffold, complete with forward, reverse, and steering. The results are more impressive than you might have thought.

How many of you have ever had the idea of building a dust collector from scratch? Mathias Wandel had this idea and decided to show us his progress on Youtube. A dust collector doesn't seem very complicated, but it turns out that there is a whole heck of a lot of engineering that goes into making one that works well. The hard part of building your own dust collector is coming up with a design that does a good job of filtering out dust but still has enough power and capacity to handle the debris that your tools throw...

I was going to take a lazy day today, because it is my birthday, and not post an article, but I came across these videos over the weekend of Matthias over at WoodGears building a cool new router copy contraption and thought I would share them. His latest machine accepts a small trim router and allows the user to use a follower to duplicate an object into wood. In his first example Matthias was able to copy a wrench and get some pretty good detail. If you want more information, be sure to watch...
