From Stanley: The Bostitch Twin Blade Knife is ideal for all roofing, flooring, and general contracting applications. It is the world's first knife that allows users to alternate between two blades without carrying more than one knife. Because of its unique design, this knife saves users time by letting them switch between two blades by simply retracting one blade and extending the other without changing anything. This allows the user to work a little longer without having to stop and replace a dull blade every few minutes. Switching between a hooked blade and a standard blade has never been easier or faster. The knife has interlocking blade sliders to ensure that only one blade is extended at a time (patent-pending). The Bostitch twin blade knife comes complete with two straight blades and two hook blades. This knife gives contractors and serious do-it-yourselfers more options….whether they prefer to load two different blades or just want to use two of the same. The knife's InstantChange feature allows the user to replace a blade in seconds by performing three simple steps: press the button located on the tool's nose, remove the blade, and then insert the replacement blade. It also provides easy-access blade storage that holds up to nine blades for fast and easy blade changes. In total, this new knife has a storage capacity of 11 blades, if you count the two loaded in the front and the nine stored in the rear. Rubber comfort grips located on both the top and bottom of the knife help to minimize fatigue and reduce slippage.

Bostitich Twin Blade Utility Knife

This knife like many of the newer Bostitch hand tools is a rebranded Stanley ,and in this case it’s a rebranded Stanley FatMax Xtreme Twin Blade, which itself is essentially a heavier, double wide version of Stanley 10-788 where it shares many design similarities like the same overall shape, rubber overmold grip, and blade storage.

I own three of these, and for the most part I like them a lot, I often find the double blade feature comes in very handy in certain applications, but these knives are far they are from perfect.
The blade changing can be tricky at times, to release a blade you toggle the switch to side to side in the direction of the blade you want to release, which requires alot of thumb pressure. Once the blade is released, the new blade often requires some sort of manipulation to get in place, one of my knives that came straight out of the package would not hold the blade until I took the the knife apart and realigned the blade holder.
There also seems to be a slight break in period with these knives possible due to milling, the more you use it, the easier the sliding mechanism gets. It is also imperative to have one side fully retracted before engaging the other side or it will result in a jam.

Another drawback is dirt, dust, etc can jamb these knives fairly easy, this knife is best used for roofing, and flooring where the double blade feature comes in handy, but it’s not the best knife to have around when dry walling where it’s prone to gumming up.

Overall it’s a pretty solid knife, when used in favorable conditions and applications.

Pros
dual blades, nice grip
Cons
jambs easily in dirty work conditions, less than stellar blade change, little heavy for a knife
